In a heartwarming tribute to the strength and resilience of seafarers’ wives, SeaFam, in collaboration with ISWAN, SIMS Training Center, and MarinoPh, celebrated Women’s Month with an event titled “Woman Up!” The event honored the wives of seafarers who tirelessly hold the fort while their husbands are away, celebrating their invaluable contributions to their families and communities.

The day began with an insightful and motivational talk led by Ms Paula Manalo ISWAN’s mental health trainer and psychologist in training, who focused on mental health and emotional resilience. This session was designed to inspire and uplift the women, highlighting the importance of self-care and emotional well-being. The psychologist emphasized the inner strength these women possess, not only in supporting their families but also in navigating the unique challenges that come with being a seafarer’s wife. Through this discussion, the women were encouraged to embrace their strength, recognize their worth, and connect with their emotional health.

The atmosphere soon shifted to one of joy and laughter with a series of engaging games, fostering camaraderie and lighthearted fun among the participants. This was followed by an empowering talk on beauty delivered by renowned singer and actress Selina Sevilla. Drawing from her own experiences in the entertainment industry, Sevilla spoke about the significance of self-confidence, inner beauty, and self-empowerment. Her message resonated deeply with the audience, reminding them that true beauty comes from within, reflecting strength, grace, and resilience in the face of life’s challenges.

The event concluded with an inspiring closing exercise led by SeaFam Chairman Arianne Rocha, who left the women with a powerful message about their inherent beauty and strength. Rocha reaffirmed that they are not merely wives or caretakers, but powerful individuals in their own right, capable of achieving great things. She emphasized that these women are the queens of their households, anchoring their families with love, patience, and unwavering strength.

Mr. Marville Espago, ISWAN’s Country Manager for the Philippines, and Ms. Rocha served as the day’s masters of ceremonies, ensuring the event flowed smoothly and that every moment was filled with inspiration and empowerment.

The “Woman Up!” celebration was a beautiful reminder that while seafarers traverse the oceans, it is their wives who anchor the home. Through this meaningful event, SeaFam and its partners shone a spotlight on the incredible power, grace, and resilience of women everywhere, reinforcing the importance of acknowledging their strength and contributions to both family and community.
